Where We Are Now - Kate StanworthKate Stanworth

This commissioned series focusses on individuals who left their homes in Africa and the Middle East to start new lives in Europe. I aim to create nuanced personal narratives and reflections on migration.

As well as portraying my protagonists in the new, often transitory spaces they now find themselves in, the project focuses on the psychological survival techniques migrants use: the re-framing of their stories and the search for metaphors and narratives that help them find purpose through difficult and disorienting times.

This project is showing in L’Asilo, Naples, 12-19 April 2017, and was created as part of the Arts and Humanities Research Council-Funded Network: ‘Responding to Crisis: Forced Migration and the Humanities in the Twenty-First Century’
